Perhaps your body will be ready for an exquisite experience, a Hamam (Turkish Massage Bath). It’s a tried and true tradition of purifying the body and soul and has been popular for over 600 years. . Before you leave Kusadasi for your next cruise destination and after your wonderful day in Ephesus, House of Virgin Mary, Priene, Didyma, or playing all day at Aqua Park, this experience of pampering oneself is a Kusadasi favorite for everyone and highly recommended while in Turkey.
Archaeologous has arranged a great discount for you and your personal group.
It’s all about water therapy, sweating, purifying the body, gorgeous tiled surroundings and pampering with a massage like you’ve never experienced. No worries, the attendants are very ethical and your privacy is honored with your body being completely covered with your little “pestemal”, a thin silk or cotton material you wrap around like a towel during the ceremony.
You’re escorted to the main tiled “bath” area with it’s 30 foot high acoustical ceilings. Usually someone will try out those acoustics with a little singing, be it guest or attendant. There might be other people either getting scrubbed or rinsing themselves off in the little marble wash basins using the copper bathing bowls provided. Notice the hot and cold water constantly running as nothing will feel better than having some of the cool water poured over you. Or, perhaps you’ll see someone in a cloud of puffy soap suds luxuriating in the delicious massage they are experiencing.
So go ahead and indulge yourself. Lie down; enjoy the heat, the scrub, the rinse off, the soapy bubble massage, and then the feeling of being wrapped like a baby in two big thick towels. When you are walked out, offered a drink, and sat down to cool off, you will understand how therapeutic it has been and you’ll be telling all the folks back home for years!
