On this Archaeologous private half day tour we will drive in A/C comfort with your licensed guide to the picturesque Cycladic village of Ano Mera. This is one of the oldest villages on Mykonos and is the second largest after Mykonos Town/Chora. It is considered to be the most interspersed settlement of the Cyclades.
Experience this authentic quiet village where life goes on uninterrupted by crowd of tourists like in Mykonos-Chora. Here you can try the food and sweets that are traditional for this village. Ask for the local milk patty-(galatompoureko-gala is milk) (tompoureko–patty).
The main reason we will be stopping here is to show you the Monastery of Our Lady Tourliani, (named after the dome and the Virgin Mary) dating back to 1543.The whole village was built around this Monastery. Your personal licensed guide will explain the many exceptional features like the pulpit and icons created in Florence, Italy and the many religious ecclesiastical artifacts and treasures.
On August 15th, the most important festival on Mykonos takes place here at the Monastery.
