Turkey Travel News by Archaeologous
We'd like to share some of the highlights of an interview with the director of Turkish Culture & Tourism Office, London, Ali Selcuk Can.
He reported that their main objective is to develop the untapped potential of travel in Turkey. Which, of course is exciting for us to hear, as we know and love to share the beauty of this country. The plan from 2014 forward is to boost arrivals from 35.7 in 2013 to 50 million by 2023. Why 'that' year? It's to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Turkey. So if you are thinking of getting great deals and traveling to a place that is on the verge of a renaissance of tourism, now if the time to book your trip.
Turkey is the sixth most visited destination on earth, according to figures from the United Nationals World Tourism Organization. While its cultural capital, Istanbul, was ranked first in the world for conventions of more than 500 delegates. In fact Turkey is one of the world’s top destinations for congresses, conferences and fairs. One can find many hotels across Turkey with convention facilities and convention centers in many of the major cities like Antalya, Izmir and Istanbul. Of course, there is eco-tourism, health retreat tourism, Biblical tourism and trekking the "Alp" like mountains of Turkey to name a few choices for vacationers.
Turkey is quite known and enjoyed in Europe and due to that in 2013 Antalya, Turkey was awarded the honor of hosting the World Travel Awards Europe Gala Ceremony.
Archaeologous says, “Vacationers are catching on, as more publicity showing movie stars, sports legends, corporations, health retreats, winter skiing extravaganzas in Turkey are being shared. Seems like the cat is out of the bag and travelers are realizing there is a great deal more to see and enjoy in Turkey than just dynamic Istanbul.
