We’ll explore Upper Pergamon: the legendary panoramic vantage point of the Acropolis that Alexander the Great called the "eagles' nest", the Acropolis, Temple of Athena, Temple of Trajan, the Alter of Zeus (mentioned in the Bible) and the steepest theatre in ancient history which had a capacity of 10,000 patrons. Lower Pergamon for an eye opening visit to Asklepieion, the ancient famous healing spa. Here is where Galen, the most well known scientist of medicine, second only to Hippocrates, studied and practiced. Time for a wonderful lunch before we drive back to Izmir.
