Get your bearings in Athens on this 1/2 day comprehensive guided morning tour. You'll be driven around Athens' most iconic ancient and modern architecture. we'll take a short photo stop at the white marbled Panathinaiko Stadium where the first Olympic Games in 1896 were held. Then onto the marvelous Temple of Olympian Zeus with it's 50 foot massive columns, Hadrian's Arch and the National Gardens. Plus, you see the Parliament Building and perhaps the 'changing of the Evzones'-guards.
Driving toward the 'crown of Athens', the Acropolis you'll be shown the Athens Trilogy (National Library, Academy of Athens and University of Athens) and many other landmarks.
Once we've climbed the 250 steps of the Acropolis much time is allowed to be in awe/take photos and reflect at the Parthenon, the Erechtheion with it Carytids (porch of maidens), the entrance Propylae, and the Temples of Athena and Nike.
As we walk toward the near-by Acropolis Museum, we pass Greece's oldest intact Temple Herodion and the famed Dionysus Theatre. Walking through the recently opened museum and looking out the windows at 'the' Parthenon is quite the experience. Here you will see the Acropolis treasures of statues, friezes, and artifacts from the archaic period. FYI: Make sure to watch the video about the Parthenon. This recently opened museum is filled with treasures of the Acropolis' statues, friezes, and artifacts from the archaic period.
