DETAILS: This 6 hour tour is an Athens family favorite in that it has you experiencing the best of Greece in one day! On this private popular shore excursion by Archaeologous, you'll spend time with 2,500 year old 'historic Athens' at the world famous Acropolis. This is one of the 'greatest architectural wonders' in the world. You'll visit the Parthenon, the sacred Propylaea, the Erectheum, a combination of the sacred areas of the Temple of Athena and the Caryatids balcony, the Temple of Nike, and the Erechtheion. FYI: If you choose a guide -optional- they will be a fountain of knowledge.

Then nearby is the Plaka Village below the Acropolis with it's cobble stoned labyrinth of alleys filled with shops, cafes, taverns, Byzantine churches, and the ruins of the ancient agora (market-meeting place where Socrates taught) It's a dynamic fun market place as it has been for 1000's of years.  Time for a succulent Mediterranean lunch awaits you along with a little more sightseeing or shopping time, as you wish.

Then to finish off your fun day, a short drive out of Athens to take a dip in the gorgeous azure waters of the Mediterranean at a nearby popular local beach. Then you are taken back to your pick up point.
