Welcome to Rhodes! For this afternoon 4 hour 'half day' tour, your licensed guide will pick you and your private group up at the 'gangplank' of your ship (or your location nearby) and your driver/chaffeur will whisk you away in A/C
comfort in our deluxe vehicles to commence with the Rhodes City Panoramic
Drive. You'll learn about the Ancient Rhodes City Highlights, (Mandraki Port, Town Hall, Evangelismos
Church, and the Rhodes Ancient Stadium
and Theater). We continue on to
the Monte Smith Hill which offers a
magnificent view of the aquamarine colored Aegean
Sea and the whole City of Rhodes.
This is followed by a drive by ancient Rhodes Acropolis (dedicated to Zeus, Athena and Apollo). We will see four standing reconstructed
columns in addition to the 2nd century ancient Stadium
and Theater.
We then move on to the history-packed Archaeological Museum which is housed in a perfect venue for history,
the 15th century hospital built by The Knights of St John. Your highly educated guide will show and tell you about the history of the Knights and mosaic masterpieces, plus the nearly perfect excavated
statues in this ideal showcase of the ancient Rhodes treasures.
Lastly, a favorite of the cruise ship passenger, the Grand
Masters Palace in the Medieval City, which is complete with moat. Some visitors find themselves in awe at the construction magnificence of this Palace. It
staggers the imagination how this imposing ciyt was built. Note the Rhodes signature 'white pebble artwork' The palace was built in the 1300s, destroyed in the 1800s, and rebuilt
by the Italians in 1939. Enjoy the "Streets
of the Knights" which is unchanged in the last 500 years. Interesting enough is the fact that Jews, Christians, and
Muslims have peacefully co-existed here for hundreds of years.
